Another plus for the HONOR 6X is battery life, with the device coming with a large 3,340mAh unit. HUAWEI claims that the HONOR 6X can last for as long as two days with moderate usage and for 1.5 days with heavy usage, which is certainly a very lofty claim. I did get around 1.5 days of battery life quite consistently though, with usage that involved a lot of gaming and a fair amount of watching videos on Youtube.
It also performs fairly well in low-light situations. Highlights are mostly kept in check, with only a few rare occasions where they would appear overexposed. It is only in the poorest of lighting conditions where the camera falls apart completely, but most low-light shots are perfectly usable, with pictures coming with a fair amount of detail and minimal noise.

The Honor 6x's 5.5-inch full HD IPS display isn't as rich or saturated as what you'll find on a slightly pricier phone, but it does the job. Images and videos look clear; the orange flames and Spiderman's blue-and-red costume were vivid in a trailer for Homecoming. However, I've gotten used to -- and even prefer -- the deeper blacks, higher contrast and punchier colors on higher-end devices. The 6x's screen is also hard to see in direct sunlight, since its max output is a relatively dim 300 nits. At $250, though, the phone's display isn't worth complaining about.
Based on what I've seen so far, the Honor 6x's greatest appeal is its surprisingly good dual-camera and wide-aperture mode. Once its software is updated, the phone should be easier to use and more functional than it is now. Like most unlocked phones coming to the US from abroad, the Honor 6x will only work on GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile (sorry, Sprint and Verizon subscribers). Honor is certainly the first company to offer a two-camera setup at this price, but it won't be the last to do so. I'm still skeptical that a smartphone that costs less than $300 can deliver pictures that look as good as those taken with the iPhone 7 Plus, but this at least allows those with tighter budgets to achieve similar effects on their photos.
Honor, the affordable Huawei offshoot continues to grow in popularity, interest, and general device quality. That trend looks set to continue as the company has announced a May 21 launch date for its upcoming Honor 20 devices.

While the Honor brand does not have a unique trademarkable name, the name does communicate a positive image, it translates well, it is re-enforced in everything the company does around the product line, and it is used consistently. Huawei also managed to get a unique domain name www.hihonor.com. Huawei as a company is a late comer to the smartphone market, but has rapidly risen to the third largest in global market share and grew unit shipments by 29% in 2016, a year that was essentially flat in overall handset growth. While it is difficult to tie market share gains to branding, I do believe that the Honor brand in conjunction with the quality of the products has and will benefit the company especially as they expand into new markets, like the US where the company currently has a negligible presence.

I used this widget for years with no problems until recently when it started to show the wrong location on my watch as many other people have reported. I suspected that the widget was getting my location from the IP address of my phone and not from the GPS so I conducted a test. I used 3 Garmin devices: an Enduro 2, Forerunner 645, and Edge 830. I have a VPN client installed on my phone where I can access VPN servers around the world. I connected my phone to 5 different VPN servers (Chicago, New York, Washington DC, Frankfurt, and Amsterdam). After changing the VPN server location, I reset the current position of the widget and found that on the watches (Enduro 2, Forerunner 645) the widget would show the location corresponding to the VPN server I was connected to. This indicates to me that the location is coming from the IP address of the phone. For the Edge 830, it always showed my correct location indicating that it is getting the location from GPS (either the GPS on the Edge or my phone, not sure which one).Hopefully, the developer finds this information useful and is able to correct the problem as I have found this widget to be very useful over the years.
